I have one (1) copy of Jane Slayre: The Literary Classic... With a Blood-Sucking Twist to give away!
(I think I am more excited to read this book than I’ve ever been to read any in a long time. Except maybe Catching Fire. But I’m so excited for this! I LOVE Jane Eyre and Vampires and Werewolves and Zombies… can it get any better?)

In the bestselling tradition of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, this clever and funny literary mash-up rewrites Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre so that Jane is a vampire slayer and Rochester's wife is a werewolf.
Raised by vampyre relatives, Jane grows to resent the lifestyle's effect on her upbringing. No sunlight, nighttime hours, and a diet of bloody red meat is no way for a mortal girl to live. Things change for Jane when the ghost of her uncle visits her, imparts her parents' slayer history, and charges her with the responsibility of striking out to find others of her kind and learn the slayer ways. After trying her luck at a school full of zombies, Jane finds a position as a governess, where she meets and falls in love with Mr. Rochester. But evil strikes in the form of Mr. Rochester's first wife, a violent werewolf he keeps locked in the attic. Jane departs to study the slayer tradition with her cousins, but finds herself yearning to reunite with Mr. Rochester. She returns to find that Mr. Rochester has been bitten by the werewolf, and only she can release him from his curse.

I’d really like to see a mashup of Wuthering Heights. Mainly because I can’t stand the story and it makes me cry every time I try to read it, so maybe if I read a mashup I wouldn’t cry. LOL.

I'm currently reading my first literary mash-up, Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. I'd love to see a mash-up version of Gone With the Wind.
ReplyDeleteso far i really like Dawn of the Dreadfuls. i'd love to see a Great Expectations mashup. for the most part i enjoy a "good" mashup. i'm really looking forward to the upcoming Night of the Living Trekkies.
ReplyDeleteI've only had the pleasure of reading a couple mashups so far, but I agree with vvb32 above - Dawn of the Dreadfuls is AWESOME!!!

I really enjoyed Pride and Prejudice and Zombies because I love Jane Austen. I agree with Jennifer, a Gone with the Wind mash-up would be pretty cool.
ReplyDeleteSense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters

I would absolutely love to get my hands on this book. As for mashups...the one I've liked best so far is Dawn of the Dreadfuls which is the prequel to Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, but I would also love to see one with Wuthering Heights...something with Heathcliff being a werewolf or something equally horrifying and out of control to justify his behavior. LOL
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of the literary mash-ups and didn't think I would. But now this book. Who can resist really Jane Slayre? As to what's next? I think they should lay-off reworking the classics...it's going to become cliched if it keeps happening.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see Great Expectations or Oliver Twist turned into a mash-up. I mean, really? Who could pass up poor little Oliver asking for more chances to kill vampires/zombies/werewolves.
ReplyDeleteI have not read any mashups yet but I think Oliver Twist or The Swiss Family Robinson would be interesting.

The only mash-up I've read so far is Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I liked it okay but it wasn't a favorite. I'm really excited about Jane Slayre though because Jane Eyre was always one of my favorites.
ReplyDeleteThanks! :0)
I responded to a question similiar to this on Twitter, and I think I said A Little Princess Vampire?
ReplyDeleteI'd love a mashup with YETIS!
I loved Pride & Prejudice & Zombies. It was amazing!
ReplyDeleteI would love to see a Wuthering Heights mashup. Maybe with vampires.
I haven't read any of the Mash Ups, yet. I'm currently reading Wuthering Heights and as one of the commenters stated I wouldn't mind seeing Heathcliff as a Werewolf.
ReplyDeleteI loved Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, I have Sense & Sensibility & Seamonsters, but haven't read it yet. I think that Alice In Wonderland shouts for a mashup.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I'm any good at this. I really need to ask my husband for help he reads the classsic's. I just started reading for the first time in my life in Aug 09 at 36, so I haven't read much yet. How about The Great Gatsby as vampires? I came up with this myself so If it's dumb don't bblame my hubby. lol
ReplyDeleteWuthering Heights set in another time period with werewolves (and maybe Nazis?)
ReplyDeleteI've never read a mash-up, but it sounds like they're fun! Maybe it would be fun to see one of Ayn Rand's books done.
ReplyDeleteI've read Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and LOVED it!I don't think that this is an outplayed genre. I think it'll continue to be fun for a long, long time.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see Little Women get a paranormal makeover. Those perfect little girls kinda gross me out. Let's dirty 'em up a little! And, let's bring in some new paranormal activity: Banshees anyone?
I'd like to see some Charles Dickens mashups. Maybe a few robots chasing after David Copperfield...Have him be abducted by aliens. Spice it up a bit.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite mash-up thus far would have to be Queen Victoria:Demon Hunter! It was hilarious and could be very believable with how dramatic Victorias life really was! And what would I like to see next oh that ones easy.....I would love to see some Shakespeare mash-ups> Think about it Romeo & Juliet vs. Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde or The Taming of the Werewolf. I can see Shakespeare going very big in the paranormal world haha!
ReplyDeleteI would like to see the count of monte cristo as one.
ReplyDeleteI've read Dawn of the Dreadfuls mash-up. Awesome. I would like to see a mash up of Wuthering Heights.
ReplyDeleteI've read Pride Prejudice and Zombies which I thought was good. How about a mash-up of Lord Of The Flies. Add in some vampires and werewolves please. And the kids can be the slayers!
ReplyDeleteI have not read any mash-ups yet but would like to read this mash-up! I would like to see a mash-up of Lolita.
ReplyDeleteThe Pride and Prejudice mash-ups work very well. I think anything similar to Pride and Prejucide would be a good mash-up, so I'll go with Wuthering Heights.
ReplyDeleteHow about a mash up with Little Women and Big Ogres or maybe Zorba the Greek Vampire Killer (opa!)
